- WRI India signs MoU with Climate Center for Cities
WRI India is proud to be a knowledge partner to C-Cube, NIUA for realizing a one of its kind initiative by MoHUA that is working to create synergy across all climate actions being undertaken by Indian cities.
On 11th January, 2021, WRI India signed an MoU with Climate Centre for Cities (within National Institute of Urban Affairs) to become a key member of the ClimateSmart Cities Alliance. The MoU was signed by Dr. O.P. Agrawal (CEO, WRI India) and Mr. Hitesh Vaidya (Director, NIUA) in the presence of Dr. Umamaheshwaran Rajasekar (Chair Urban Resilience - Global Resilience Cities Network). Madhav Pai (Executive Director, WRI India Ross Center), Jaya Dhindaw (Director, Cities, WRI India), Prerna Mehta (Lead, Urban Development, WRI India) and Himanshi Kapoor (Project Associate, WRI India) attended the event virtually.
WRI India has been a key knowledge partner to Climate Centre for Cities ( C-Cube) since its inception. This collaboration aims to build and augment activities conducive to research, innovation, knowledge sharing, performance monitoring, advocacy, and capacity building of cities for mainstreaming climate change action in urban development.
C-Cube is part of National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) under the ClimateSmart Cities initiative of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). C-Cube’s vision is to build climate action in cities and facilitate climate resilient urban development with the intent to steer the country’s growth towards the envisioned 5 trillion economy as well improve quality of life in urban areas.
